Knitted Hat

In late 2023 and into early 2024, I started knitting an orange beanie style hat; both to practice knitting, and to have an orange hat I can wear while working outside in the cold during hunting season.

I followed this pattern from Yay for Yarn: "The Easiest Knitted Hat Ever" [Link] / [Internet Archive Mirror]

It worked quite well! I wanted an easy starter pattern, as someone who had never knitted prior to this. Because this was a rectangle, using the garter stitch, it fit the bill perfectly. (I'll be trying knitting in the round soon, though.)

The final product fits well (I used the counts for an adult large size, in #4 Medium weight yarn), and I'm quite pleased. You can definitely see some mistakes here and there, but I forced myself to keep going through those... I wanted to actually finish a project, and learn and move on. Also it's a work hat anyway, so this is just like breaking it in.
